Russia will supply COVID-19 vaccine doses to Pakistan soon

On Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia will supply 150,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Pakistan. Pakistan has already received 50,000 jabs of the Sputnik vaccine, another 150,000 will be delivered soon.

Russian foreign minister made this announcement during a two-day visit by the Russian foreign minister to Islamabad. He led his side at the formal talks with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. He also met Prime Minister Imran Khan and army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

This was the first visit by a Russian foreign minister in almost a decade and came at a crucial juncture. When the region is undergoing a transformation with new alignments, putting stability at risk.

He said that we are ready to try to help our Pakistani colleagues meet their needs using the available production capacity.

When asked to talk about the possibilities for expanding Russian-Pakistani cooperation in the production and distribution of Sputnik V, the Russian foreign minister said, β€œThis is a very promising topic. Our respective experts will work on it.”

Pakistan has also approved Russia Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine for commercial sale in February. By making it one of the first countries to market shots privately.
