Husband burned his wife for Insurance money

sahar-khan-burned

We have often read about many cases where husbands burn their wives, domestic violence, and honor killings. Sahar Khan’s story is also much alike. Sahar Khan is a resident of Alipur area of Muzaffargarh, was set on fire by her husband in December last year. Her husband did that to claim her insurance of Rs 1 crore. In an interview, she said, “I had a wedding of my choice, we have six children, everything was fine, half an hour ago we were laughing, I also posted a picture on Facebook and wrote’ With Hubby ‘(with husband) and half an hour later my world changed. He poured petrol on me and set me on fire and locked the door of the room.” You never know what’s going inside a person’s mind! She further explained the incident by saying, “My children were standing outside watching. I kept screaming and trying to put out the fire. The fire was extinguished and I fainted. Everyone thought I was dead, but people gathered when they heard my screams. When I regained consciousness in the hospital, I told them that my husband had set me on fire and the police arrested him.”

Seher continued her journey

Seher is now affiliated with the Depilex Smileagain Foundation, an institution that works for the well-being of women suffering from fire or acid burns, where they are not only treated but also taught various life skills.

Praising the efforts of DSF, Khan said, ‘This institution has performed three operations on me. They have also given me a sewing machine. Now there are cooking classes where we are being taught to cook so that we can start our own small online business. Sahar Khan In Depilex Smileagain Foundation

DSF provides treatment as well as skills to women who have been burned in an accident. Even now, cooking classes have been organized here for the last three weeks, where chef Zainab Ahsan teaches cooking to more than ten women, including Khan.

We appreciate the efforts of Sahar for leaving behind her tragedy and moving forward in life and DSF for supporting helpless women all around the country.
