SC Questions Scope of Observations in Imran Khan Bail Case, Adjourns Hearing to Aug 19

ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice Yahya Afridi has raised concerns over whether the Supreme Court can give final observations in a bail case, signaling a cautious approach in proceedings linked to PTI founder Imran Khan.

During Monday’s hearing, the court directed the prosecution to prepare arguments on specific legal questions and adjourned the matter until August 19. Both Khan’s legal team and opposing counsel have been asked to assist the court on the identified issues.

The Chief Justice made it clear that no finding would be issued that might influence another pending case involving the PTI founder. For now, only the prosecution has been formally notified, with both sides expected to present their arguments at the next hearing.

KP Govt Responds to PTI Founder’s Tribal Operation Statement

Separately, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government issued a statement attributed to Imran Khan regarding a possible military operation in the tribal areas.

Faraz Ahmed Mughal, spokesperson for the KP Chief Minister, said the government has not confirmed the authenticity of the statement posted on Khan’s X account. In the post, Khan reportedly urged KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur to resist any federal military operation in the province, warning that such action could damage public trust in state institutions.

Mughal emphasized that Gandapur considers his role a trust given to him by Khan and would resign whenever instructed by the PTI founder. However, he noted that due to restrictions, the Chief Minister has been unable to meet Khan directly.

The spokesperson added that the provincial government remains committed to ensuring peace and security across KP under Gandapur’s leadership.
