Man Denied Service Over Shalwar Kameez in Lahore Restaurant

Lahore – July 11, 2025: A man has filed a complaint in the Consumer Court after he was allegedly denied service at a private restaurant in an upscale area for wearing traditional attire.

Abdul Latif, a lawyer by profession, claimed that on May 18, he visited the restaurant to dine when a waiter informed him that food service was “unavailable” due to his dress code. Latif alleged that the restaurant staff deemed his shalwar kameez as “cheap dressing” and refused to serve him.

According to the complaint, the restaurant manager not only upheld the refusal but also allegedly threatened to have him forcibly removed if he made a scene. Feeling humiliated, Latif sent a legal notice to the restaurant, which has reportedly gone unanswered.

The citizen has now approached the Consumer Court, urging legal action against the restaurant for discriminatory behavior and mental distress.

The incident has sparked conversations online about cultural respect and discrimination against traditional clothing in high-end establishments.
