PM Shehbaz grants Pakistan top javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem a Rs2.5 million cash reward

Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s top javelin thrower, made history on Tuesday by earning a silver medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championship. Shehbaz Sharif then presented Nadeem with a Rs2.5 million cash reward in his honor.

The prime minister complimented the world-famous javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem on his efforts to earn the silver medal in spite of limited funding during their meeting. He said that his accomplishment made the country proud.

Arshad Nadeem has been awarded a sum of Rs2.5 million by PM Shehbaz.

The prime minister claimed that the nation has enormous sporting talent that has to be developed. Additionally, he emphasized the need of concentrating on sports marketing in rural regions.

Nadeem told the prime about his accomplishments and sporting career.

The athlete said that he began his career in 2012, took part in the Youth Festival, and then represented Pakistan in a number of international competitions across many categories.

He praised the prime minister’s meeting as highly productive and outlined many initiatives to advance sports in the nation.

Attaullah Tarar, the minister of information and broadcasting, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the minister of state for information technology and telecom, Romeena Khurshid Alam, a member of the Punjab Assembly, and Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan were present at the meeting.

On August 28, 2023, the talented javelin thrower created history when, with a personal best throw of 87.82 meters, he became the first Pakistani to earn a medal for his nation at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary.

Neeraj Chopra of India won the gold medal thanks to a best throw of 88.17 meters.

Nadeem’s knee injury later in October of last year destroyed the nation’s prospects of winning another medal at the Asian Games.

The javelin ace had a successful elbow surgery in London in December 2022.

The athlete resumed training earlier in the month in preparation for representing his nation in the July 2024 Olympics in Paris, France, following knee surgery performed in the UK.
