SFJ Backs Trump Slams Modi Before Khalistan Vote
Sikh Group Praises Trump, Criticizes Modi Government Ahead of Khalistan Referendum
At a recent event at the National Press Club, leaders of the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) expressed strong support for former President Donald Trump’s tough stance against India, while sharply criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for its global efforts to suppress the Khalistan independence movement.
SFJ leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu described the upcoming Khalistan referendum as a “Ballot Bomb,” representing the voices of 1.5 million Sikhs around the world. He accused the Indian government of using unlawful methods—including assassinations, terror operations run through embassies, and extrajudicial killings—to silence those advocating for Sikh independence.
“India has turned its embassies into spy hubs and centers for plotting assassinations,” Pannu said.
In honor of President Trump, the SFJ plans to hold a Sikh prayer, called Ardas, at the National Mall. The group praised Trump’s administration for efforts to protect American jobs and crack down on fraudulent H-1B visa practices linked to India. They also welcomed Trump’s decision to impose a 50% tariff on Indian goods, viewing it as a strong response to transnational terrorism.
SFJ General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun emphasized the significance of the referendum date, saying, “The Khalistan Referendum question will echo loudly on August 17. Each vote challenges India’s occupation of Punjab.”
