Ahead of the PSL 9 draft, the COO of Lahore Qalandars cautions against the “culture of bribery”

Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams were chastised by Chief Operating Officer Lahore Qalandars Sameen Rana on Saturday for “promoting a culture of bribes” and for engaging in this unethical behavior.

Sameen Rana took to X, the previous Twitter, asserting that everyone has the right to assemble a “good team” and that individuals who are “available” in the draft should be chosen for this purpose, or traded if feasible.

The claims that cricket players were changing teams before the December 13 PSL 9 draft seems to have upset the Lahore Qalandars’ COO.

“Making a good team for your franchises is your right and for that you have the right to select player AVAILABLE in the draft or trade them where possible,” he stated on his Facebook page.

He continued: “PSL franchises are one big family and we should not go directly to players and start offering them money and rewards to leave existing franchise.”

Then he went about requesting franchises to stop the league’s cricket players from being bought off.

“Let’s avoid creating and endorsing a bribery culture. Merely a modest request,” he continued.

A number of cricket players are anticipated to swap teams prior to the PSL draft on December 13, which coincides with Rana’s article.

According to reports, teams are contacting players directly to request that they be demoted, waived from their contracts, or made available for draft selection in order to improve their draft position.

It is said that the athletes are being enticed with the promise of a better category or greater compensation prior to the draft.

Naseem Shah of the Quetta Gladiators was reportedly approached by several teams prior to the draft. Now that Muhammad Wasim Jr. and Abrar Ahmed have joined Quetta Gladiators, he has joined Islamabad United.

For the next PSL season 9, the Gladiators have also traded Iftikhar Ahmed to the Multan Sultans in place of Rilee Rossouw.

In a statement announcing the transaction, the Sultans also disclosed that they would receive the first pick in the Silver category and the first pick in the Platinum round as part of the agreement.

Rossouw is also rejoining the team from whence he made his PSL debut with his trade to Quetta. Following the transfer of Imad Wasim for Hassan Ali from Islamabad United earlier this week by the Karachi Kings, this was the second PSL trade completed before of the draft.

Wasim has been taken by United under the Platinum category. Wasim led Karachi to their first PSL title in the fifth edition.

Hassan, who played for Islamabad in the previous season, will be a Diamond player for the Karachi Kings.
