Following their victory over Canada in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, Pakistan is still unbeaten

Pakistan’s 5-4 victory over Canada on Wednesday in Ipoh, Malaysia, moved them one step closer to the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2024 final.

Pakistan leads the standings with 10 points after their first four games and has yet to lose in the competition.

Within the first seventeen minutes, Canada had established a 2-0 lead, putting Pakistan on the defensive. But the green shirts rallied magnificently to win the game 5–4.

Pakistan’s Abu Bakr Mahmood scored the first two goals of the match to tie the score.

For Pakistan, Arshad Liaqat, Ghazanfar Ali, and Rana Waheed Ashraf also scored one goal apiece.

For Canada, Sean Davis scored two goals; Avjot Buttar and Harbir Sindhu each scored one.

Pakistan and Japan would both advance to the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2024 final if Japan defeats Malaysia later today.

Japan and Pakistan drew 1-1 yesterday, with the former striking the equalizer in the final seconds.

In their first meeting of the day, Pakistan won 4-0 over Korea in a one-sided contest on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Abu Bakr Mahmood’s last-second goal on Saturday helped Pakistan overcome Malaysia. Following a demanding sixty minutes, the Green Shirts prevailed 5–4 after some of the best goals of the nine-goal thriller.

Pakistan will now play New Zealand at the same location on May 10.
