When will Tesla show its robotaxi? Elon Musk

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and a well-known advocate for self-driving cars, revealed on Friday the date of the company’s “robotaxi” unveiling, according to CNN.

The 52-year-old billionaire announced the news on X, the former Twitter platform. It said that on August 8, Tesla, the firm that creates, produces, and markets electric cars, will introduce one of its key products, the robotaxi.

With no explanation, Musk merely posted on social media, “Tesla Robotaxi unveil on 8/8.”

The tech billionaire has made past references to the advancement of driverless vehicles.

He had stated that software upgrades will progressively enhance the driving skills of Tesla vehicles with full self-driving capability.

Additionally, Musk has stated on several occasions that these vehicles may ultimately operate as fully autonomous taxis, which might generate revenue for the owners of the vehicles by offering taxi services.

Depending on how the car was initially equipped, the Tesla Model 3 may be upgraded to have full self-driving capacity for an extra $12,000 or you can subscribe to it for up to $199 per month.

Tesla’s online description notes in little gray print that the car is not yet completely capable of autonomous driving since “the currently enabled features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous.”

Elon Musk predicted that the technology will eventually increase the value of Tesla vehicles.

He stated, “You can think of every car we sell or produce that has full autonomy capability as something that in the future may be worth five times what it is today,” during the third-quarter results call for the business last year.

The technology is still a long way from being able to drive itself without assistance from humans, according to experts who have tested it.

Waymo, an Alphabet company, and Cruise, a General Motors Company subsidiary, are working together to develop driverless ride-sharing services.

Nevertheless, following a string of mishaps that caused property damage or casualties, the automakers either stopped producing their vehicles or conducted a recall.
