Wankhede vs Netflix Aryan Khan Series Case Dismissed
Former NCB Officer Sameer Wankhede Sues Netflix Over Aryan Khan Series Portrayal
Mumbai – Sameer Wankhede, the former zonal officer of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai who led the high-profile 2021 cruise party raid, has filed a defamation suit against the makers of Aryan Khan’s Netflix debut series, The Ba**ds of Bollywood*.
The legal action comes in response to what Wankhede alleges is a “false, malicious, and defamatory” portrayal of him in the seven-episode series, which premiered on September 18. The show, directed by Shah Rukh Khan’s eldest son Aryan, revisits a fictionalized narrative reminiscent of the 2021 drug case in which Aryan and six others were arrested following the NCB raid.
According to reports, Wankhede’s complaint points to a scene in episode 1 (timestamp 32:02–33:50), where a police officer resembling him is shown dismissing one partygoer while targeting another, not for drug involvement but simply for being connected to Bollywood. Wankhede argued that this depiction has harmed his personal and professional reputation.
However, the court has now declared the lawsuit “not maintainable,” closing this chapter of the dispute.
