We should feel pleased of having kicked off the worldwide trend of Punjabi songs: Abrar ul Haq

With his unique take on Punjabi music, Abrar ul Haq instantly became well-known when he made his TV debut in 1995 alongside Billo De Ghar. Abrar discussed how his songs have influenced Indian artists during his guest appearance on Mind Na Karna.

The singer said, “The songs I had made fifteen to twenty years ago-there were no such songs in India at the time.” Subsequently, Sikh artists began creating songs similar to FIR in the same manner. Pakistani musicians need to be proud of themselves for initiating that trend.

Being able to influence the music business globally is a great complement for Abrar. The singer mentioned that he was one of the first to employ rap in Punjabi songs. The musician is no new to utilizing political satire in his music and has dabbled in politics as well. Social media may now unlock doors that were previously inaccessible to common people, therefore Abrar is optimistic about the bright future ahead for up-and-coming talent.

“These days, social media is really important,” said Abrar. “Just picture yourself holding an entire TV.”

Thinking back to when he first started his profession, Abrar mentioned how the global proliferation of cellphones had caused a drastic change in the environment.

He recalled, “There used to be long lines of people waiting outside the doors of producers hoping to get the chance to just say one line in a show. That was back when I started making music.” “You have a great chance of becoming well-known if you are creative and have the ability to create quality content.”

But Abrar incisively exposed the snobbishness with which established musicians look down on up-and-coming musicians. Abrar reflected once again on his own debut, saying, “People used to blame me for ruining music when I was new to the industry.” However, this is a self-repeating cycle. It’s incorrect that those who were new back then despise those who are new now. All musicians deserve respect from everyone.”

Abrar continued, saying that one of his goals has been to inspire the next generation via his work. He declared, “I have always tried to inspire the youth.” “But ultimately, enjoying yourself is the main goal of music.”
