Zardari Not Resigning Govt Slams Rumors
Government Denies Rumors About Zardari and Army Chief
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on social media that the government knows who is behind the false stories being spread about President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Army Chief General Asim Munir.
He clearly said that there is no truth in the rumors that the President is being asked to resign or that the Army Chief wants to become the next President.
Naqvi said that President Zardari has a good and respectful relationship with the Armed Forces. He also repeated Zardari’s words: “I know who is spreading these lies, why they are doing it, and who is trying to benefit from it.”
Naqvi also said the Army Chief is only focused on keeping Pakistan strong and stable, and has no other political goals.
He gave a strong warning to those spreading false news and said: “You can work with foreign enemies all you want—but we will do whatever it takes to make Pakistan strong again, InshAllah.”
PPP Leaders Also Reject Resignation Rumors
PPP Information Secretary Shazia Marri also denied the rumors that President Zardari is going to resign. She said these claims are completely false and made up.
She added that Zardari is likely to become the first civilian president in Pakistan to complete two full terms, showing his political strength and dedication to democracy.
Earlier, PPP spokesperson Nadeem Afzal Chand also said there is no threat to Zardari’s position. He added that the political system cannot work without the PPP, and said, “How can they remove us?”
