Qatar PM Netanyahu Killed Hostage Hopes After Strike
Qatar PM Blames Netanyahu for Dashing Hostage Hopes After Israeli Strike
DOHA – Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of destroying any remaining chances of securing the release of hostages through mediation efforts.
Speaking to CNN, Al Thani said, “I think that what Netanyahu did yesterday, he just killed any hope for those hostages.”
Qatar has played a central role as a mediator throughout the nearly two-year conflict, hosting Hamas officials openly in Doha to facilitate talks. The prime minister revealed that on Tuesday morning, just hours before Israel struck Hamas officials in Qatar, he had met with one of the hostage families.
“The families are counting on this ceasefire mediation. They have no other hope for that,” he said.
Al Thani also highlighted the International Criminal Court’s indictment against Netanyahu, insisting, “He needs to be brought to justice.”
The Israeli strike in Qatar has drawn sharp criticism from world powers, with Russia condemning it as a “gross violation” of international law and the UN Charter.
