Adnan Siddiqui pays tribute to Rekha, Amitabh and Jaya

Bollywood hit film, Silsila, remains one of the most famous love stories of all time. The Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, and Rekha-starrer made headlines before it even began production, thanks to its star-studded cast and the controversies that followed. This year, the Yash Chopra directorial is all set to complete four decades since its release and remains a fan favorite.

Recently, Pakistani star Adnan Siddiqui paid tribute to the romantic drama’s stellar cast in an Instagram post.

Playing his trusted flute, the Meray Paas Tum Ho star hummed to the tune of the popular song, Neela Aasmaan So Gaya.

“This soothing melody is from Silsila, one of my most favorite films by a much-loved director, the king of romance, Yash Chopra,” Adnan Siddiqui penned. “I can still watch the love triangle that stoked quite a controversy back in the 80s, countless times. The story is timeless, and the way Amitabh Bachchan jee, Jaya jee, and Rekha jee have acted in this emotional rollercoaster is an actor’s delight.”

He added, “Despite intense emotions of passion, longing, love, heartbreak, agony as the mainstay of the movie, they simmer through Silsila, not for a moment in your face.” Siddiqui went on to sing praises for Big B. “Then we had Mr. Bachchan lending his deep, rich baritone to the liltingly painful Neela Aasman. He is one artist whose professional acumen I admire a lot.”

The Mom star continued, “He has sung only a handful of songs, but all the choices stand out. As if he knows intuitively that these lyrics and this composition will be best suited to his voice. It happens when composers too have an eye to look beyond the acting skills. They’re willing to play the gamble, however much of a long shot it appears.”

After Adnan Siddiqui’s rich tribute, former Strings band member Bilal Maqsood shared his own spin of the aforementioned track with a piano.

“If music is the food of love, play on. Borrowing from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night to thank my brother Bilal Maqsood. For this befitting jugalbandi of my rendition of Neela Aasman,” the Mehendi star said. Adding, “I am bowled over by the synchronicity of the notes and your sleek finesse. Not that I ever doubted your musical brilliance. The piano has transformed the flute version into a melodious symphony.”

Siddiqui then quipped, “How about both of us oldies form a new band?”
