Nawaz Sharif, leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, and his brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, have pledged to hold elections on schedule and resist any outside pressure. He announced that the government has set aside seventy billion rupees to help those who have been impacted by the recent floods. In a statement, the Prime Minister announced that the Benazir Income Support Programme will provide monetary assistance of Rs 25,000 to each family in the country that had been affected by the floods.
