Director of "Darlings" will direct the Madhubala movie

The Indian Express reported that Jasmeet K Reen, the director of the critically acclaimed Darlings, has been granted the go-ahead to helm a film about the life and times of the famous Madhubala.

The producers announced their newest, intriguing project on Instagram. Madhur Brij Bhushan, Madhubala’s sister, and Arvind Kumar Malviya are in charge of it.

“Exciting Announcements! We are excited to present our next movie, which pays tribute to the incomparable Madhubala—the picture of skill and grace. Prepare to explore the enduring allure and enthralling tale of one of Bollywood’s most recognisable stars. “Watch this space for updates,” the caption said.

Although the cast is still pending, shooting on the movie is anticipated to begin this summer. The production company made the statement in response to rumors that Kriti Sanon will be starring in a Madhubala movie directed by fashion designer Manish Malhotra. But Bhushan has earlier brushed off rumors that any movie that was being considered that would feature her sister would not have the family’s blessing. There will be “only one” Madhubala biopic, according to Bhushan, who also stated that it would be “backed by me and my team” in October 2022.

According to a Pinkvilla story, Bhushan added, “The idea is to not hurt anyone’s sentiments (through the said biopic) but we will showcase several unknown facets of Madhu Apa’s life which aren’t out in public.” “A lot of misnomers and inaccuracies about her life will also be cleared up in the film.”

Born on February 14, 1933, as Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi, Madhubala was one of eleven siblings who had to start performing at an early age to help support her family. Madhubala ruled Indian film for more than ten years, having worked for twenty years total. She had acted in more than 60 films at the time of her death in 1969, making her one of the highest-paid performers in Indian cinema during her prime.
