Fake Embassy Bust Man Posed as Westarctica Ambassador in India
Man Arrested in India for Running Fake Embassy of ‘Westarctica’
Ghaziabad, India – A 47-year-old man named Harsh Vardhan Jain has been arrested for running a fake embassy of a made-up country called Westarctica from a rented house in Ghaziabad, near New Delhi.
According to police, Jain claimed to be an ambassador of imaginary countries such as Westarctica, Saborga, Poulvia, and Lodonia. He used fake diplomatic number plates on his cars and shared edited photos showing himself with Indian leaders.
Police say Jain worked as a broker, helping companies and people get jobs abroad. He also ran an illegal money transfer business (hawala) using fake companies.
During a raid on his house, the police found $53,500 in cash, fake passports, and forged documents with stamps from India’s foreign ministry.
The organization Westarctica, based in the US, said Jain was only made an Honorary Consul to India because of a donation he gave them. They said he was never made an ambassador.
Jain is also being investigated for money laundering.
