PMD Warns of Heavy Rains Flooding and Landslides Across Pakistan
Weather Alert: Flooding and Rain Expected in Many Areas
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that there may be flooding in some parts of Pakistan on Wednesday and Thursday. This includes areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and Baluchistan.
Areas at Risk of Flooding
Flooding might happen in streams and rainwater drains in these places:
Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, D.G. Khan
Kashmir
In Baluchistan: Barkhan, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, Naseer Abad, Sibi, Loralai, Zhob, Qalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran, Panjgur, Turbat
Landslide Danger
Heavy rains could also cause landslides in some hilly areas like:
KP districts
Murree
Galliyat
Kashmir
These landslides may block roads and disrupt traffic.
Flooding in Cities
Due to heavy rain, low-lying areas in the following cities may flood:
Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, and Peshawar
Karachi Weather
In Karachi and the coastal areas of Sindh, light rain (drizzle) is expected in the coming days.
The weather will stay cloudy, and the sea breeze may stop.
Humidity will be high (around 79%), so it may feel hotter than usual.
