Israel’s Gaza invasion – Day 42
Family graves Israeli soldier held captive, swears never to pardon
Relatives and friends wept as the body of an Israeli hostage retrieved from Gaza City was buried. Her mother told the mourners she would never forgive what had happened to her daughter, a teenage conscript soldier, according to Reuters.
On October 7, Noa Marciano, 19, was present at a military base close to Gaza when Hamas fighters took control of it. Although she was pulled alive into the adjacent Palestinian territory, many of her fellow troops were killed.
She was killed in an Israeli airstrike, according to a video posted by Hamas earlier this week. Her body was discovered, according to the Israeli military, in a structure next to Gaza’s Shifa Hospital, and it was brought back to Israel for burial.
Speaking to her daughter during the Hamas attack, Marciano’s mother said to the mourners that her first worry had been for the soldiers who had only arrived at the facility two days earlier.
“We’re pleading with you for forgiveness today. “You shielded us, but we did not shield you,” her mother sobbed as she wore a t-shirt with a picture of her happy daughter in her high school cap and gown. While you are now sleeping, we won’t give up. We will not forgive or forget,” she declared.

“Palestinians are disappearing right before our eyes,” states Jeremy Corbyn, a UK MP
UN experts have warned that we are witnessing a genocide in the making.
Home by home, hospital by hospital, generation by generation, Palestinians are being wiped out before our very eyes.
MPs had the chance to demand a ceasefire. The majority chose to cheer on war instead.
