The forthcoming film "Lion King" features voices from Beyonce and her daughter Blue Ivy

Once more, Beyoncé and Blue Ivy will perform powerfully together.

The mother-daughter team, who debuted on stage during Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour, are providing the voices for Mufasa: The Lion King, a forthcoming movie.

Prequel to the 2019 live-action Disney animated blockbuster, the film features Beyoncé, 42, reprising her role as Simba’s romantic interest Nala, with Blue Ivy, 11, providing the voice of both Nala and Simba’s daughter, Kiara.

The first trailer for the film, which Queen Bey also posted to her Instagram Stories, was recently released. The movie is scheduled for release on December 20, 2024.

The film’s director, Barry Jenkins, discussed the Knowles daughters’ dynamic in the studio and the casting decision in an interview with People Magazine.

Jenkins remarked, “I thought there was something really lovely about this other and this daughter getting to play together, to work together.”

“Back in 2020 or 2021,” the movie’s production got underway, and Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour in 2023 ran concurrently with it.

Notably, Blue, Beyoncé’s oldest kid with her husband Jay-Z, made her stage debut alongside her mother.

Jenkins said of the mother-daughter team, “I feel like Blue grew quite a bit over the course of that tour,” and that the film is just a picture of a really lovely period in their life. And it was a complete success for the movie.

He praised the multi-Grammy winner even more for her method of collaborating with Ivy.

Although Beyoncé is a well-known celebrity, she puts her daughter’s needs first whether they are in the same room or when she is working with her. He said, “So much of the intensity spilled over into the movie.
