Korean Song Translated (If It Were YOU)
There are so many songs I could have translated here. You might even have some in mind. But, when Rose (from BlackPink) sang this song, my heart went out to her. It’s all about the ‘feeling’ of the song. And she did an excellent connecting the lyrics to the audience.
To be honest, they lyrics are pretty easy to read and relatable. But, the power in Rose’s voice shows that maybe, she’s been there. And, (if we can be real for a second), who hasn’t? Unrequited love or unreciprocated friendship… we’re all no strangers to this phenomenon. This world is cruel and it has hardened the people around us. It’s SAD but unfortunately it’s very, very true.
The mood and feeling of the song is pretty emotional and (okay, I’ll go there) depressing. I mean, a few tears are GUARANTEED!
If It Were You
Why is it so difficult for you
To see me trying so hard?
I’m still shocked to see
How much you can hurt me
My days are a struggle
Even my dreams are painful
If you suffered as much as I do
Then would you get it?
If it were you, instead of me
how would it be?
If these crazy, painful days
became yours to tolerate?
Others say you’ll be happy
when you fall in love
Who the hell said that?
I only know of a love that doesn’t look back
Do you even know how I’m doing these days?
I can’t fall asleep nor eat properly
Do you know that as I’m looking at you
I’m becoming more ruined?
I feel like giving up
Because there’s no way you’ll come back to me
As I know you’re looking somewhere else
Even then, I can’t let you go

These days, when I’m not listening to ballads, watching movies, or sitting down with a good novel, I am rigorously studying Hangul (Korean language) to satisfy my obsession for BTS and K dramas.
