India Wins Asia Cup 2025

India Clinches Asia Cup 2025, Mohsin Naqvi Stands Firm on Trophy Presentation

Dubai – India lifted the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 after a thrilling five-wicket win over Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, with Tilak Varma delivering a match-winning performance.

Varma’s unbeaten 69 off 53 balls, including four sixes and three boundaries, anchored India’s chase of 147, helping them reach the target in 19.4 overs despite an early collapse. Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube provided crucial support with key partnerships that steadied the innings.

Pakistan’s new-ball attack, led by Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Shah Afridi, struck early, reducing India to 20 for 3. Faheem dismissed Abhishek Sharma (5) and Shubman Gill (12), while Shaheen claimed Suryakumar Yadav (1) in the fourth over. Varma and Samson’s 57-run stand stabilized the innings before Samson fell for 24. Later, Varma combined with Dube for a 60-run partnership, giving India the momentum to close out the match.

Earlier, Pakistan posted 146 all out after being put in to bat. Sahibzada Farhan (57) and Fakhar Zaman (46) gave Pakistan a strong start with an 84-run opening stand, but a brilliant spell from Kuldeep Yadav (4 for 30) and support from Varun Chakravarthy and India’s pacers triggered a collapse. Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah shared two wickets each, while Chakravarthy finished with 2 for 29.

The final marked the first Asia Cup title clash between the arch-rivals. Pakistan had reached the final by defeating Bangladesh in a semi-final, while India entered unbeaten. With this win, India extended their record with a ninth Asia Cup title, solidifying their dominance in regional cricket.

Off the field, Mohsin Naqvi reportedly refused to hand over the trophy on instructions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Despite pressure from Indian officials, Naqvi insisted he would personally present the trophy, rejecting any alternative arrangements. The Asia Cup trophy has now been delivered to the Asian Cricket Council’s office.
