Karachi Weather Heavy Rainfall Forecast Till August 22

Heavy Rainfall Forecast as Wind Pattern Shifts in Karachi

KARACHI – The city witnessed a shift in weather on Wednesday as winds began blowing from the northeast at a speed of 4 km/h, paving the way for more heavy downpours.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), several areas of Karachi are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, with the rain-bearing system likely to persist with intervals until August 22.

Rainfall data shared by the Met Office showed that Orangi Town recorded the highest rainfall at 113mm, followed by Shara-e-Faisal with 43mm, Korangi with 35.6mm, Keamari with 31mm, University Road and PAF Masroor Base with 24mm each, Defence Phase-V with 20mm, and Saadi Town with 15.9mm. Gulshan-e-Maymar registered the lowest rainfall in the city with 6.8mm.

The Met Office had earlier predicted widespread rain with scattered heavy to very heavy showers across Karachi, Mithi, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Sanghar, and Jamshoro. Rain is also expected in parts of Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, and Jacobabad between August 19 and 22 with occasional breaks.

Meanwhile, several districts of Balochistan, including Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibi, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran, Kech, Gwadar, and Panjgur, are also likely to experience rain with scattered heavy showers during the same period.
