Karachi Sees Light Rain More Monsoon Showers Ahead

Light Rain Brings Relief to Karachi, More Showers Expected

KARACHI – Several parts of the city, including Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Clifton, Malir, Airport, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Scheme 33, Safoora Goth, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal, received light rain on Monday, bringing a brief spell of pleasant weather. Drizzle was also reported in Mehmoodabad, Manzoor Colony, Defence, and Saddar.

The showers offered relief from the humid conditions, while traffic flow across the metropolis remained largely unaffected. According to the Met Office, Karachi recorded a relative humidity of 82 percent in the morning and 57 percent by evening.

Weather experts have forecast mostly cloudy skies from Tuesday, with chances of thunderstorms and scattered moderate to heavy rainfall. Authorities have warned of possible flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Elsewhere in Sindh, the heat persisted with temperatures soaring to 42.5°C in Jacobabad and Dadu, followed by Khairpur at 42°C, Larkana at 41.5°C, Mohenjo-Daro and Rohri at 41°C, and Sukkur at 40.5°C. Shaheed Benazirabad recorded 40.4°C, while Paddidan and Sakrand saw 39.5°C, Chhor 39°C, Tandojam and Hyderabad 38.5°C, and Mirpurkhas and Mithi 38°C.

According to the Meteorological Department, strong monsoon currents are currently penetrating most parts of Sindh, increasing the likelihood of further rain spells.
