Modular Teaching
DEFINITION: A particular type of teaching in which there is individualized instructor for each learner apt for their skills, personality, and interests.
CHARACTERISTICS
One of the most advanced and innovative forms of teaching
It is customized for each learner.
It is a technology-based teaching with more emphasis and usage of media.
There is frequent feedback for the learner and teacher.
The course is divided into various modules. Each module consists of planned activities engineered to help learners achieve the defined objectives.
The student participates in active learner rather than passive learning (which is seen in traditional teaching styles like lecture method).
The topic is introduced to the learners and the instructions (that are consistent with the desirable learning objectives) are given.
Testing is done at every stage—summative and formative assessments.
The modules can be custom-made for the entire class, small groups and even singular use.
These form of teaching is more appropriate for higher educational institutions i.e. tertiary level students.

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS
Conclusively, Modular Teaching is self-contained, self-sufficient form of teaching in which the learner struggles to achieve the learning outcomes of the module or planned activity by the teacher. It is time-consuming and expensive but very effective and innovative. With the proper instructions, students will be able to self-study, be independent and develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills. A suggestion would be to go to a public library or computer lab if there’s a lack of facilities in the school.
