Mom detained for dropping her crippled son into a canal inhabited by crocodiles

Following a dispute with her husband, a lady in southern India is accused of tossing her crippled six-year-old kid into a crocodile-infested canal, according to local police quoted by the Independent.

The youngster, who had speech and hearing problems, was reported to have had his dismembered body found in the canal in the Uttara Kannada region of the state of Karnataka on Sunday.

According to a local police officer, Savitri, 32, accused her husband Ravi Kumar, 36, of pressuring her into throwing their child to his death. Additionally, Kumar has been taken into custody.

She claimed that their son was viewed as a burden by her husband, and they often argued over it.

Police inspector Krishna Barakeri stated, “Savitri allegedly threw her son into a waste canal linked to the crocodile-infested Kali river around 9pm after a quarrel over the same matter escalated on Saturday night.”

Savitri said that her spouse ordered her to cast their child into the canal and subjected her to mental abuse. “My spouse bears responsibility.” He used to constantly tell me to let the son die because all he does is eat. Well, let him be. How much pain can my son have to go through if my husband keeps saying that? “Where can I go to express my suffering?” she allegedly asked cops.

Police sent divers to find the kid after the boy’s neighbors raised the alarm. But it was soon getting dark, so the search effort would have to wait until the following day.

After the crocodile was apprehended, the boy’s body was discovered inside its mouth, according to the authorities. The right arm was missing, and there were bite marks all over the torso.

Charges of murder were later brought against the housekeeper and her husband, a mason, according to the police.
