Opposition Anti-Govt. Movement, first rally to be held in Quetta

Karachi: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), the newly formed opposition alliance, will hold its first rally on October 11 in Quetta.

This Anti-govt (PDM) moment is going to be followed by a full-fledged anti-government movement within the country, PML-N leader Shahid Kahaqan Abbasi announced on Tuesday.

“This movement will keep growing and will be successful in ridding Pakistan of this undemocratic process,” said Abbasi.

Amid other opposition leaders, PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz and PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari didn’t attend the meeting.

Abbasi said, “Space is shrinking for democracy in Pakistan, inflation is on rising and economy has been ruined.”

He added that the PDM movement will bring real political change within the country.

“You will see that this movement will give rise to a real political change in Pakistan’s political history,” Abbasi said.

Abbasi added that each one opposition party had a consensus on the choices taken today.

The meeting also gave approval to PDM’s committee, which Abbasi said will play its role “in taking the PDM movement forward”.

He said the committee will comprise two members from each party and it will hold its first meeting today.

An “organizational structure” is going to be sent to the opposition parties leaders following which the movement is going to be presented before the people.

PDM’s Raja Pervez Ashraf’s Stance

Raja Pervez Ashraf expressed concern over the arrest of the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly. Shehbaz Sharif.

Raja Pervez Ashraf said the move is aimed to sabotage the movement against the government.

He stated that joblessness and inflation have increased within the country.

The govt believes in the politics of revenge and is targeting opposition leaders, he mentioned.

“The arrest of Shehbaz Sharif is regrettable and concerning,” he maintained.

JUI-F’s Maulana Ghafoor Haider, sharing identical views, said the PTI-led government had lost its credibility within the public.

And claimed that it did not provide five million low-cost houses and many jobs to the masses as promised before the 2018 general elections.

He also condemned the arrest of Shehbaz and added that the anti-government movement will continue until it’s dislodged.
