Pakistan Slams India for State Terrorism at UN

Pakistan Accuses India of State-Sponsored Terrorism at UN Security Council

UNITED NATIONS – Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, strongly rebuked India for its allegations during a heated UN Security Council session on Tuesday. He accused New Delhi of sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan and violating international norms.

“It is India which actively sponsors, aids, and abets terrorism in my country and beyond,” said Ambassador Jadoon while responding to Indian UN Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish’s remarks.

The session, convened by Pakistan, focused on the peaceful settlement of international disputes. Ambassador Jadoon said India’s approach is hypocritical, citing its refusal to implement UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

“Instead of its tired narrative of victimhood and blame-shifting, India must introspect, change its behaviour, and comply with international legal obligations,” he added.

The Pakistani diplomat highlighted the timing of India’s remarks, pointing out that they came on a day when the Council unanimously reaffirmed the principles of the UN Charter, including peaceful dispute resolution and respect for international law.

Ambassador Jadoon also defended remarks made earlier in the day by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who called for a resolution to the Kashmir dispute following the Council’s adoption of a Pakistan-sponsored resolution promoting pacific dispute settlement.

Reasserting Pakistan’s stance, Jadoon declared that “India is in illegal occupation of the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir” and continues to deny Kashmiris their right to self-determination.

He condemned India’s reported human rights violations in Kashmir and its treatment of minorities, citing international watchdog reports. He also criticized India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a breach of international law.

The ambassador accused India of “blatant aggression” between May 7 and 10, which he said targeted civilians in Pakistan. He claimed Pakistan’s military responded with a “measured” self-defense operation, downing six Indian aircraft and inflicting “significant military losses.”

“These hostilities ended due to Pakistan’s position of strength and a responsible approach, facilitated by the United States,” Jadoon told Council members.

Highlighting a contradiction in India’s stance, he noted, “It is ironic that India, which brought the Jammu and Kashmir dispute to the Council, now refuses to implement its resolutions.”

India’s envoy, meanwhile, dismissed Pakistan’s position, alleging the country is “steeped in fanaticism and terrorism” and reliant on IMF bailouts. He referenced the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and India’s counter-operation, Sindoor, warning of consequences for states that promote cross-border terrorism.
