Pakistan Slams US Strikes Flights Rerouted

Pakistan has again made it clear that it strongly disagrees with the recent US attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites, which happened during the night of June 21-22.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Pakistan has always believed Iran has the right to defend itself. Pakistan also said it will always protect its land and borders and will never accept any threat to its independence.

This statement comes after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke to the new Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian. During the call, he repeated Pakistan’s support for Iran and condemned the US strikes. Pakistan also asked for peace and a diplomatic solution to reduce rising tensions in the Middle East.

Airlines Avoid Middle East After US Strikes

At the same time, many airlines are staying away from large parts of the Middle East because of the US attacks on Iran. Flight tracking website FlightRadar24 reported that since last week, planes have been avoiding airspace over Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Israel.

Instead, airlines are choosing longer and more expensive routes—either flying north over the Caspian Sea or south through Egypt and Saudi Arabia—to stay safe.

There have been many missile and drone attacks recently, making some regions dangerous for air travel. Since Israel attacked Iran on June 13, airlines have stopped flights to many affected countries, although a few rescue flights have been allowed to bring people home.
