toIn 1857, many people in India, including Hindus and Muslims, joined together to fight a War of Independence against the British for their own homeland, Pakistan. They were defeated and the British; removed the last Mughal king from the throne of Delhi. Then Victoria, the Queen of England, became the ruler of all of India. This meant that India was now a British colony.
The British introduced modern education and the system of elections for members of the law-making councils. Hindus were more advanced in education than the Muslims, and they were also in majority. Therefore, they had better chances of becoming powerful under the new system. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan realised the needs of the Muslims and opened a college at Aligarh to choosing than educate them.

1906

In 1906, some Muslim leaders got together and formed a political party for the Muslims; to create their homeland Pakistan. It was called the All India Muslim League. Muhammad Ali Jinnah, a young lawyer and politician from Bombay, became its member in 1913. In 1930, Allama Iqbal presided over the annual session of the Muslim League held in Allahabad. He said that the areas where the Muslims were in a majority should be joined in a single state for the Muslims of India. Pakistan in 1930

In 1930, Allama Iqbal presided over the annual session of the Muslim League held in Allahabad. He said that the areas where the Muslims were in a majority should be joined in a single state for the Muslims of India. In 1933, Chaudhry Rehmat Ali, a student studying in Britain suggested the name of Pakistan for the Muslim homeland. In 1937, Muhammad Ali Jinnah addressed a huge gathering of Muslims at Lucknow and promised to turn the Muslim League into a great political party. The Muslims of India began calling him the Quaid-e-Azam, or the Great Leader”

Pakistan in1940

In 1940, two years after Allama Iqbal’s death; another big session of the Muslim League was held at Lahore. It was decided that the Muslim League; would try to get a separate homeland for the Muslims. This decision was called the Lahore Resolution or the Pakistan Resolution, The Indian National Congress; which was a major political party of
Indie, opposed the idea of Pakistan.

However, a great number of Muslims all over India voted for the Muslim League in the elections of 1945. It became clear now that most of the Muslims of India wanted a separate homeland. The British had decided to leave South Asia, but they did not want to divide it into India and Pakistan. But the Quaid-e-Azam made it clear to everyone that the Muslims would not accept any solution other than the creation of Pakistan. At loss, the British had to respect the decision of the Muslims, and Pakistan came into being on 14 August 1947
