Trump Sends Nuclear Subs Near Russia Amid Medvedev Clash
Trump Sends Nuclear Submarines Near Russia After Online Fight with Medvedev
WASHINGTON – Former U.S. President Donald Trump and top Russian official Dmitry Medvedev have been exchanging sharp words on social media for days. Now, the argument has taken a serious turn.
Trump said on his Truth Social platform that he had ordered two nuclear submarines to move closer to Russia, just in case Medvedev’s comments were more than just talk.
“Words can lead to big problems,” Trump warned. He didn’t say if the submarines are nuclear-powered or nuclear-armed, and the U.S. military did not share their exact location.
In an interview on Newsmax, Trump confirmed that the submarines are “closer to Russia” and added, “We always want to be ready.”
His statement came after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia is now mass-producing hypersonic nuclear missiles. These missiles might be placed in Belarus by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Russia’s war in Ukraine continues. A recent missile and drone attack on Kyiv killed 31 people. July also saw a record number of Russian drone strikes, according to AFP.
Trump has given Russia a deadline until next week to move toward peace or face new sanctions. But Putin refuses to back down, saying Ukraine must give up territory and drop plans to join NATO.
At the same time, Medvedev insulted Trump online. He warned about Russia’s nuclear strength and mentioned the “Dead Hand” – a secret Cold War system for nuclear weapons.
Trump fired back, calling Medvedev “a failed former president” and warning him to “watch his words.”
Medvedev served as Russia’s president from 2008 to 2012 and is now known for supporting the war and making strong anti-Western comments online.
