US FAA Delegation Concludes Visit to Pakistan, Eyes Aviation Cooperation

Islamabad – A five-member delegation from the United States, accompanied by officials from the U.S. Embassy, concluded an extensive visit to Pakistan to assess the country’s civil aviation framework. The team held detailed discussions with the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), focusing on aviation safety, regulatory compliance, and oversight mechanisms.

The closing session saw a constructive exchange of views, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation in aviation safety and regulatory practices. During the visit, Pakistan’s national carrier CEO also met with the FAA team leader at PCAA headquarters.

In his concluding remarks, the FAA team leader thanked PCAA Director General Nadir Shafi Dar for the warm hospitality and for facilitating a thorough review of Pakistan’s aviation systems. The delegation is scheduled to return to the United States today, where it will review its findings before formally briefing the PCAA.

While the outcome of the FAA’s review is still pending, Pakistani authorities remain cautiously optimistic. Under DG Nadir Shafi Dar, the PCAA has previously succeeded in restoring direct air routes to the European Union and the United Kingdom following the separation of the CAA and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Authorities hope this track record may help pave the way for the resumption of direct flights between Pakistan and the United States in the near future.
