US to resume student visa services for Pakistanis

The US Embassy announced on Monday that it’ll resume student visa services from October 1 at US Embassy in Islamabad and also the US Consulate General in Karachi, after it has been halted due to pandemic.

According to the statement, the services will kick start at the United States (US) Embassy in Islamabad.

Terming student visas a “top priority”;

The statement said the US mission “will make every effort to assist student visa applicants as timely and safely as possible”.

US Embassy’s statement

“We are pleased with the long tradition of student exchanges between Pakistan and the US. Nearly 8,000 Pakistani students study at universities and colleges across the US at any given time,”

They further added;

“and we anticipate welcoming many more who have an interest in the American educational experience.
Student visas are a top priority for the US Mission in Pakistan.” the US Embassy said in a statement.

“We will make every effort to assist student visa applicants as timely and safely as possible.”

They continued by stating;

“We have spent the last few months putting measures in place to ensure the health and safety of applicants and our employees during the Covid-19 pandemic,” it added.

The embassy said that Student visas are a top priority for the US Mission in Pakistan.

US embassy also stated that they will make every effort to help student visa applicants as timely and safely as possible.

They spent a previous couple of months putting measures in place to make sure the health and safety of applicants and our employees during the COVID pandemic.

With that in mind, applicants are asked to remember that masks and social distancing are going to be required.

They also provided a link in their official website for students to determine if they qualify for an emergency appointment.

Nearly 8,000 Pakistani students study at universities and colleges across the United States (US).

Processing for other visa categories will be soon resumed.
