Six youngsters arrested for harassing girl in Karachi University
Police arrested six youngsters, undoubtedly the children of staff of the University of Karachi (KU), on Thursday. The incident took place after students of main campus of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), of The University of Karachi complained on social media of an alleged harassment incident at the KU. Institute of Business Administration (IBA) student Shaheer filed an FIR against the harassers.
The student blamed that he dropped off one of his female friends at the university hostel. 10 youngsters on motorcycles tried to stop his vehicle as he was leaving the premises. They surrounded his car, and told him while shouting to get off. “They chased us on motorcycles and harassed the girl”. The IBA student said that if he would have not left the place on time, a similar incident like Lahore motorway would have happened indeed. However, he managed to escape and informed the security guards on the Maskan gate of the university.
He said he started to tremble when he faced the incident but tried his best to escape. He shared his story on social media:
Many users kept highlighting the issue on social media till late on Thursday night. They demanded that the police to take immediate action against the harassers.
The accused were minors aged between 10 and 16 years. The police identified them as Zakir, Umair, Abdul Rehman, Faizan, Zawar, and Hammad and all of them live within the university premises. Thank God police took an action on time and caught the culprits.
