Pakistan Becomes Top Exporter of Camel Meat

Cows, buffaloes, goats, sheep, chickens, and camel meat make up the majority of Pakistan’s livestock population. Nili-Ravi & Kundi breeds of buffalos, Red Sindhi and Thari breeds of cows, Kajli, Thali, Kooka and Dumbi breeds of sheep, and Kamori, Bari, and Teddy breeds of goats make up Pakistan’s performing livestock gene pool in terms of fertility, weight, milk, and meat. In 2016, livestock contributed 58.6% of agricultural value-added and 11.6 percent of total GDP, compared to 56.4 percent and 11.7 percent the previous year. At constant price factor, the gross value added from livestock increased by 3.63 percent from Rs. 1247 billion in 2015 to Rs. 1292 billion in 2016.

Furthermore, According to official documents describing the global camel meat market, Pakistan will be the leading exporter of camel meat in 2020. Middle Eastern countries demand camel meat, followed by the United States and Europe. Its Market is very large and contributes significantly to the country’s imports and exports. Pakistan, a country in South Asia, is a major producer of camel meat. Other top producers included Australia, the United States, and Sudan; however, Sudan remained the top producer of this meat in 2019, with a production value of USD 146,000. Pakistan’s exports are growing at a rapid pace; which is reflected in an increasing export rate. Pakistan, on the other hand, was the largest exporter of it in 2020.

Firstly, According to the official Global Export survey of 2020, Pakistan ranked first with a country share of 66.09 percent and export value of USD 2.60 million, followed by Australia in the second position with a country share of 30.25 percent and export value of USD 1.19 million, and the United States of America in third place with a country share of 1.9 percent and export value of USD 74.64K. With an import volume of USD 897K, Oman is the leading importer of camel meat. Secondly, Business trends in this industry favour various meat varieties such as beef, mutton, poultry and so on.


Furthermore, In terms of manufacturing methods, market setup, and processing; however, poultry is the cheapest and desired beef. Pakistan’s poultry industry; is dominated by broilers; and the country is the world’s 11th largest poultry producer with 1.02 billion productions, annually.
